Arthritis Relief and Your Diet

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Priya Shah Arthritis affects more than 40 million Americans and is referred to as the most common chronic disease in people over 40. Doctors believe there are over 100 different forms of arthritis, all sharing one main characteristic: they all cause joint inflammation. What can you do to relieve the symptoms of arthritis? A lot. There is a great deal of debate in the medical world about the effects of overall diet on arthritis and using diet toward alleviating the condition. Doctors have known for a long time that diet affects gout, a specific type of arthritic condition, however the jury remained out for a long time on other common types of arthritis such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. What is known however, is that overall dietary health is important and does come into play. Weight and nutrition are two factors that play a role in arthritic pain. Being overweight can affect certain arthritic conditions, forcing some joints to carry more of a load. This added weight stresses the joints, causing overuse or more wear to components, and pain, especially in the knees. If you suffer from arthritis make sure you eat good foods and get help from healthcare providers to create and follow a well-balanced dietary plan. To begin with, here are some vitamins, minerals, foods, supplements and herbal applications to consider. Vitamins that have shown to reduce tissue swelling or provide relief include Vitamins B5, B6, B12, the antioxidant vitamins C and E, and vitamin K, which improves bone health. Several independent studies have found that rheumatoid arthritis patients given increased doses of zinc showed marginal improvement. Other minerals to consider include Boron, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese (not to be taken with calcium), Copper, Germanium and Sulfur. The National Institutes of Health is studying the food supplements, glucosamine and chondroitin, for use in relieving symptoms of pain and stiffness for some persons with osteoarthritis. Patients with osteoarthritis taking blood-thinners should be careful taking chondroitin as it can increase the blood-thinning and cause excessive bleeding. Fish oil supplements have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Increasing dietary fish intake or fish oil capsules (omega 3 capsules) can relieve inflammatory conditions like arthritis. For more information, see Omega 3 Fats Glutathione is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties and can be safely boosted by consuming its precursors available in the supplements, N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) or undenatured whey protein. For more information, see Glutathione. Quercetin is also known to help reduce inflammation, while Type II Collagen plays a role in growth and repair of joints, articular cartilage and connective tissue. Because of the risk in overdosing, one should be discouraged from taking doses of vitamins that are higher than recommended without a physician’s direction. Some vitamins and minerals can actually worsen certain conditions, and the concentration that can be attained through vitamins can be dangerous. It is always better to increase in vitamin or mineral intake through your normal diet. Foods To Avoid There are many factors to consider with regards to arthritic diets and nutritional healing, and each factor may not apply to each individual. For example, certain people are allergic to specific foods, and these allergies can indeed worsen arthritic conditions. The best way to approach the situation is to examine each arthritic condition and tailor one’s approach based upon the specifics. Ingesting foods that contain sodium nitrate or tartrazine can inflame rheumatoid arthritis, while ingesting foods containing a substance called hydrazine can contribute to an arthritic condition connected to lupus. Black walnuts can cause flare-ups in people a rare type of arthritis called Behcet’s Disease. With osteoarthritis, deterioration of cartilage is a concern. Since there is some evidence that Vitamin A, contributes to cartilage deterioration, those with osteoarthritis should avoid large doses of it. Although clinical proof is not available, anecdotal evidence suggests that in the case of fibromyalgia, eliminating wheat, dairy, citrus, sugar, aspartame (Nutrasweet), alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco can provide relief. Many nutritionists and naturopaths suggest that those suffering with rheumatoid arthritis avoid dairy products all together, as they seem to exacerbate rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups. The report “I Cured My Arthritis You Can Too” suggests that white flour aggravates arthritis symptoms. Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Tracy Yang Attention to details is the key to making your theme wedding unique and memorable. Below are some simple decorating ideas for popular wedding themes to help make your day truly magical. Beach Theme A romantic stroll down a white sandy beach with the cool breeze brushing against your face and the orange glow of the sunset behind your back is what we envision for those that are having a beach themed wedding. It is not complete without the necessities that make it a beach wedding. Start off with a message in a bottle invitation to casually invite your guest to a beautiful outdoors event. The highlight of the wedding are the guests arriving to see aisles of chairs decorated with garlands of fresh flowers in season and the waves crashing in front of them.Definitely a lei is a must for the couple to be as they stand and exchange their vows. Guests can enjoy the outdoors sea mist as they sit lightly fanning themselves with a sandalwood fan. To end a beautiful occasion, guests can go home with a memory of all this, with wedding favors such as tin pails filled with seashell potpourri or an elegant silver sea shell favor. It is a day that the bride and groom eagerly await for and happily will remember and cherish. Garden Theme A traditional quaint garden wedding brings tradition to modern times. If you are having a garden themed wedding, it doesnt necessary mean it needs to be outdoors. A modern edition of a traditional garden wedding can be substituted with great accessories. Create a floral ambience with fresh flowers in bloom all around the ceremony or reception location. Having plenty of flowers is a must to recreate a garden theme wedding if you want to play to your guests senses. Add some twinkling lights across the ceiling for a romantic ambience. Small furry critters are a great accessory to table settings such as butterflies, lady bugs, or bees. Line the walk ways with candles such as luminary tea light bags or have real trees or plants and hang some candles on the branches with hanging votive holders. Guests will happily end the occasion by bringing home some great wedding favors such as a mini pear candle that reads The Perfect Pair or a mini handbag filled with pear scented potpourri. Wine Theme Weddings Great food, friends, and wine are the ingredients to a great wine theme wedding. If having your wedding at the wine country is not within your budget, a recreation of the exquisite ambience can be done wherever you may be having your wedding. Grapes and more grapes are always a must to create a wine theme atmosphere. Have accessories on the table such as grape vineyard place card holders to seat your guest accordingly for that added special touch. Play off the theme with vibrant colors of deep maroon and gold or light ivory and gold depending on which wines you love, the reds or the whites. Make sure to fully stock your bar with plenty of wines from various parts of the country. Have guests nibble on appetizers to compliment the various wines. Lastly, have special toasting glasses or wine stoppers engraved with your guest’s name so they can always remember your special day. Copyright Tracy Yang, 2005. All rights reserved. Healthy Grocery Shopping

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Gary Gresham Healthy grocery shopping is a critical part of eating healthy to lose weight. Choosing healthy foods to eat instead of high fat foods can benefit you in so more ways than just losing weight. Eating healthy can affect the way you look and feel every minute of every day. When you shop for healthy foods to eat, there are a few basic things that can make it a little easier. Here are a few healthy grocery shopping tips. 1. Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. It’s obvious that all food looks better when you are hungry. But you can make better choices if you don’t shop when you are hungry. Another benefit to this is you will spend less. 2. Select canned fruits and tuna that are packed in water, not oil or syrup. Anything packed in water including fruit in its own juice is a much healthier choice. 3. Look at the labels for the words “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated”. The earlier you see them appear on the label list, the higher the amount of unhealthy trans fatty acids the food will contain. 4. Don’t buy turkey or chicken with the skin on it. If you are eating healthy to lose weight, breast or white meat is a much healthier food to eat. The skin is really all fat and not very healthy food to eat. 5. When you select frozen dinners, select those that are not only low in fat, but low in sodium and cholesterol as well. Salt makes you retain water and can increase your blood pressure. 6. If you aren’t consuming enough dairy products or they don’t agree with you, buy calcium fortified orange juice instead. Getting enough calcium is an important part of eating healthy. 7. Buy whole grain breads, cereals, and rolls. Healthy breads are whole wheat, pumpernickel or seven-grain. Healthy cereal choices are All-Bran, Bran Buds, 100% Bran and Raisin Bran. 8. You may want to give cantaloupe a try. With just 95 calories, half of the melon will provide more than a day’s supply of Vitamin C and cancer-fighting beta carotene. 9. Don’t be tricked into buying yogurt covered by nuts or raisins, on top because they are normally loaded with sugar and partially hydrogenated oils. If you are eating healthy to lose weight, this could make the difference of you losing weight for the week or not. 10. Buy low fat snacks and treats, such as pretzels, ginger snaps, and angel food cake. Make sure you can grab these low fat snacks when you get the need to munch on something. There are many different healthy foods you can buy at the grocery store, and all it takes is making the right choices to put in your cart. Healthy grocery shopping can quickly be learned and become a way of life with you. The reward is huge because taking weight off becomes easy. Retinol - Essential To Get Rid Of Dark Eye Circles

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Chantal Terry Retinol, the active form of Vitamin A, is a yellow fat-soluble, anti oxidant vitamin important in vision and bone growth. It belongs to the family of chemical compounds known as retinoids. Retinol is ingested in a precursor form; animal sources (milk and eggs) contain retinyl esters, whereas plants (carrots, spinach) contain pro-vitamin A carotenoids. So what does Retinol do for you? Retinol helps to plump skin. This is very effective when it comes to combatting fine lines on the eye area. Retinol also thickens the epidermis. Now, this is valuable for the eye area as the skin around the eyes are twice thinner than the skin on the face. Therefore, it is highly sensitive and has a lesser ability to build collagen to smooth the skin. Retinol also helps to improve texture and blood circulation. As we already know by now, dark eye circles are mostly caused by your capilaries around your eye area. These capillaries sometimes break very easily thus leaking blood around the eye area which results in red, purple or blue rings under your eyes. These are actually your dark eye circles. Therefore, use creams that also has Vitamin K in it as Vitamin K helps to constrict capillaries. Hence, with retinol, it helps to circulate your blood around the eye area so blood will not be pooled in the eye area so easily. Besides, the skin in the eye area are the thinnest thus they are easily damaged by sun. Retinol helps to rebuild damaged cells from harmful UV rays. Here are some good food sources rich in retinol: Sweet Potato Carrot Kale, boiled Mango Turnip Greens Spinach, raw Papaya Red Bell Pepper Apricot Cantaloupe Milk, Fat Free Romaine lettuce Egg, large Milk, whole Tomato, raw Broccoli Green Bell Pepper Orange Apart from eating a diet rich in retinol, you can also indulge in some highly recommended eye creams/masks that are infused with retinol as part of your beauty regime. You can find out more of these creams in recommended retinol eye creams Also, learn how to combat dark eye circles the natural way at natural remedies for dark eye circles For beauty tips and secrets: http://www.beauty-tyrant.blogspot.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Chantal_Terry http://EzineArticles.com/?Retinol—Essential-To-Get-Rid-Of-Dark-Eye-Circles&id=524036 purchase phentermine 37.5 where to buy phentermine buy phentermine online overnight phentermine with online prescription

The University Cafeteria

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Ashok Malhotra Cafeterias and restaurants are important in university campuses. The largest Cafeteria of the university designed for use by staff, students and visitors is generally the most visited component of a university. It is also a place where students and faculty can take their visitors for a brief coffee break or a lunch hour visit. A well-designed Central cafeteria, housed perhaps in the student center adds to functional efficiency of the university. For here, the lunch hour can be combined with a visit to the bank, post office and the book store along with a friendly exchange of words with colleagues, fellow students, visitors, staff and faculty who may be visiting the same building at the same time. Universities where such centers are not common would do well to plan for it on their campuses. As mentioned, the ideal location for the central cafeteria of a university is the student center. The student center building containing the cafeteria, along with the administration building can easily be designed as the two largest buildings on a university campus because of their central and essential functions. Both of these buildings need to be accessed from the academic departments as well as by outsiders and vehicles. Therefore, their placement in the university in conjunction with parking areas and the university boulevard has to be incorporated in the master plan. The best location for a student center on a campus is a location close to the administration building but towards the student residential area. It must also be close to the University Boulevard and Visitors Parking area. The building needs to be surrounded by lawns and gardens containing benches for sitting. The university cafeteria needs to be spacious not just because of the large number of its visitors but also because spacing between tables should ideally be much more than the spacing between tables in an ordinary restaurant. Students often use these tables to read or complete an assignment along with a snack, lunch or dinner. The acoustic design of a university cafeteria should be such as to minimize noise level. Using non-reflecting wall coverings and providing sections of the cafeteria that can be opened to surroundings during busy hours takes care of this need. Music may never be permitted inside a university cafeteria for the same reason. Other sound proof sections of the student center can be designed to permit music. It may be mentioned that a university cafeteria needs to serve nutritious food at subsidized rates. Its primary clients are students, who are not earning members of society. Two different models for running such cafeterias are prevalent. In the first one, the university gives out a contract to a private caterer. In the second, the university runs its own food services department and runs the cafeteria by hiring the required staff. Both models have inherent limitations. When services are contracted out to a private caterer he gets an assured and captive clientele without having to face competition of the open market. This can, and often does lead to deterioration in the quality of food and service. Although contracts are for limited periods of time, university food contractors tend to stick on for various reasons. On the other hand, when a university runs the cafeteria on its own, we end up with a problem similar to the problem that state enterprises face. A staff assured of employment yet unconcerned about profits can lead to a costly establishment providing a poor service. A novel solution to the problem is to provide a set of small kitchens five or six instead of a single large one. These kitchens are then hired out to separate caterers or restaurants serving different types of food. The maintenance and cleaning of the premises as well as billing are entrusted to staff hired by the university. A common billing clerk charges the appropriate amounts for food from different counters. The practice is to provide a plastic tray and cutlery at the entrance of the food counter enclosure. After the desired items of food are procured in the enclosure a customer proceeds for billing in much the same way as billing in a supermarket. The billing of food items is done at the exit of this enclosure. The billing done on a computer easily segregates and divides the proceeds between the different caterers. A separate counter for hot and cold beverages (requiring the least effort in preparation) is kept under the direct control of the university department. Profits from it help maintain the cafeteria. A clause in the contract with caterers ensures that the caterer with the least cumulative sales (i.e. the least popular one) shall not have his contract renewed in the subsequent year. Poor caterers thus last for a year, while a good one can remain forever at the university. This system introduces competition amongst caterers and provides for constant improvement. The best of the caterers can be sure of long contracts, whereas the poor ones would be quickly changed. The fact that the university provides space, cutlery, utilities, and some of the staff to run the cafeteria automatically introduces a measure of subsidy that can translate into lower costs. In this competitive system, the university need not control the costs since an expensive caterer will generally not be popular with students. Some ground rules have to be specified in this food court, such as the number of items each caterer may prepare. A campus without a good cafetaria is a barren one. Foundation Makeup: Should You Use Liquid or Powder?

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Rose Smith Foundation makeup is the key to whether your makeup will look good or bad. The application of a foundation will help to smooth out your skin tone, conceal blemishes and give you a more healthy glow. Applying makeup without a foundation base can actually enhance unsightly skin problems, rather than conceal them. But before you head out to the store, here are some basic rules that should be followed when making your product selection. How Do I Choose A Foundation Makeup Base? First, you need to select the correct color for your skin tone. Often times, people choose foundations that are either too light - making them look pale and washed out - or too dark - which often leaves a line of makeup between the jaw and neck. Generally, you will look like you’re wearing a mask. The foundation color that you choose must blend in with your natural skin tone. Also keep in mind that your skin tone color will change with the seasons. In the summer, you will most likely need a slightly darker foundation color, as your skin will tan somewhat (even if you don’t purposely suntan - you still need to go outside sometimes.) In the winter your skin will lighten again back to its original tone and you should use your natural base color foundation makeup. Deciding Between Liquid and Powder Foundations The next decision is to determine whether you would prefer powder foundation or liquid foundation makeup. This tends to be more personal choice, although there are pros and cons to both types. Most women seem to prefer the liquid foundation base. It appears to be quicker and much easier to apply. As well, once blended into the skin, liquid foundation makeup appears more natural and lighter, giving the skin a smooth, even appearance. However, how it is applied can also make a difference. Applying too much will cause streaks and spots that look “heavier” then others on your skin. Using a makeup sponge rather than using a fingers can help a lot with creating a smooth, even appearance. Apply a small amount of liquid foundation at a time and blend in carefully. Another advantage of a liquid foundation is that it absorbs into the skin rather than sitting on top of it, so you get a more natural skin tone appearance. It also comes in a variety of bases to suit women with dry skin, normal skin, oily skin, combination skin, and sensitive skin types. Powder foundations are a less popular choice, but can work just as well as liquid foundation makeup. It’s easy to apply and there is less blending involved. They are also great for people that have very oily skin, as the powder will soak up the oil and prevent a greasy appearance. You can also carry a compact powder case with you on days when you need to do a slight touch up to your makeup or on days that are hot and humid, to rid your face of shine. A slight problem with powders, however, is that they can look like they are caked on your face if applied to heavily or after a couple of hours in warm weather. They also tend to rub off on clothes easier since the powder sits on top of your skin. Another Choice: Liquid-Powder Foundations Liquid-powder foundation combinations are another choice that is gaining in popularity. The foundation makeup comes in a compact, much like powder bases, but contains a somewhat creamy mixture. Application of this foundation gives a smooth appearance, like a liquid, with the absorption benefits of a powder. However, you have to be careful when applying this type of foundation, since a heavy hand will give you a caked appearance. Like liquids, the key is to apply it lightly and blend well. This combination is not the best for people with dry skin as it will also give you a patchy skin appearance. Choose this type of product if you have normal to oily skin. If this is the first time you are going to buy a foundation, you should visit a make-up counter that allows you to try out the various products or seek out a professional make-up artist to help you with your selection. For those that have problem skin, such as severe acne breakouts, you should visit a dermatologist first. They can help you with making a wiser choice on the type of foundation makeup would work best, plus provide you with other skin care options to help clear up underlying problems. Remember, the best makeup techniques start with a good foundation that is appropriate for your skin type and skin tone. Be smart and take the time to research what is out there before spending money on any product. You’ll be happy you did. About the Author: Rose Smith owns TotalBeautyTips.com. Commemorate and Celebrate - Ideas for Developing You Own Ceremonies for Life’s Events

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Julie Begbie Whatever your religion, whether you believe in a god or goddess or are firmly atheist, you will find as you go through life that there are times you want to observe a life changing event. Birth makes many parents think about planning a ceremony. I recently attended a friends alternative ceremony which was entitled Circle of Life. The parents wrote and read out poems to the baby and then planted the placenta with a tree on top as we all sang Circle of Life. It was touching and much more memorable than a standard ceremony. I gave the family a hand engraved plaque to place in front of the tree, marking the date and the name of the baby, so as he grew, hed be reminded that it was his tree. There are many different things you can do to celebrate your childs birth. Another couple, Antonia and David, didnt want to commit their child to a faith before she was old enough to make her own decisions, so planned their own naming ceremony. We booked a hall for Daisys first birthday, and invited friends, family, and all the people we felt were part of Daisys community, who would play a part in her life as she grows. We looked up readings that we felt would convey some of our hope for her life, and asked some close friends to be Daisys guardians. You can also hold a thanksgiving in a church, where you are not asked to affirm the Christian faith, but the church family give thanks for the birth of the child and promise to love and support the family as they grow. Not all ceremonies are celebrations. This was brought home to me particularly when a friends baby was stillborn at 30 weeks, and the family wanted to mark the babys life. The local vicar was helpful, and together with the parent planned out a very short ceremony, which allowed everyone to express their sadness. Again, planting a tree at a time like this can be a living reminder of the short life. Its hard to think straight when there has been a death on the family, and planning a funeral ceremony can be emotional. Remember that what you do is up to you. You dont have to have a ceremony at all; a professional to lead the ceremony is optional, and you do not have to use a funeral director. You can choose where you hold a ceremony. No planning permission is required if you want to use your own land for the actual burial, or if you have limited space you can choose a natural burial ground. Rather than looking for a plot in an already crowded cemetery, natural burial grounds allow relatives to mark a burial place with a tree, or know that the plot will develop into a wildflower meadow over a number of years. Natural burial grounds often require a cardboard, bamboo or wicker biodegradeable coffin. There are many reasons why a traditional wedding ceremony doesnt work for everyone. Whether you are constrained by budget, dont want to be limited by the traditional framework of a wedding ceremony, or have been frustrated that you cannot get your relationship recognised officially, more and more people are devising their own event. By selecting words, poems and readings that hold a special meaning for you, you can plan a really special day. You may prefer a natural, outdoor venue, but if you want your commitment to have a legal status too, youll need to choose a licensed venue for your ceremony or visit your local Register Office. There are many ways to mark an event. Look online for a wide range of resources, such as www.naturaldeath.org.uk or www.civilceremonies.co.uk. You can order a personalised garden plaque for any of these occasions from www.treefromme.co.uk. Julie Begbie is a mum to two, and runs her own business, http://www.treefromme.co.uk, creating personalised plaques to mark lifes events. The business idea developed after Julie started giving hand engraved plaques to friends and family to mark special events. Now, Tree from Me can supply a plaque to mark a birth, wedding, anniversary or death, with your choice of words, from 19.99 plus p&p. Future of Online Banking

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Ross Bainbridge No matter where online banking comes from or where it is today, it is most certainly here to stay. As a tool of modern living and as a lifestyle aid, it is absolutely indispensable. The fact is that many services that are now being offered with online banking are almost impossible to avail of in regular banking. This holds even truer for developments that the future of online banking will bring. Judging by its current popularity and rate of implementation, online banking will increase in scope and user base in the future. Individuals and businesses that have refused to adopt it as a commercial tool before now will not really be left with much choice. As things stand now, using conventional methods of business inquiry, confirmation, order-placement and bill payment is retrograde at best. The speed (and reduced manpower) with which the same activities can be done online leaves the traditional methods completely in the shade. The same holds true for normal vs. online business-related banking. In a domestic setting, too, shopping has been and will continue to be revolutionized by the Internet option. Payments for goods bought online will almost always be done via a bank-related credit card or direct deduction from a bank account. However, traditional biases against online banking are not going to be overcome entirely by hard facts and figures in its favor. The rate at which this sector of banking will grow will depend on how many user-friendly facilities are incorporated, the additional facilities that will be added and the way the concept is packaged for the general public. It is unfortunately a fact that banks and their customers have rarely agreed on what is a useful facility and what isnt. A lot of market research and customer polling will be required before the gap between what is needed in banking and what is available is filled. When that finally happens, the final frontier of online banking will indeed be explored. Liberty Head Nickels - Coins For The Collector

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Brian Edwards The Liberty Head Nickel came in with a bang and left with a bigger bang. When Charles Barber designed the coin as a replacement for the Shield Nickel he placed a large Roman numeral V on the reverse of the coin to represent five cents. Because the coin was roughly the same size as the five dollar gold piece a whole group of enterprising crooks began gold plating the coin and passing them off as five dollar gold pieces. The coin was quickly redesigned and the word “cents” was added to the reverse, thus ending a very profitable business for the criminal class. Production was fairly steady for the rest of the production run. The series was officially ended in 1912 to make way for the Buffalo Nickel. However, an enterprising mint employee struck five 1913 proof coins with a master die and then slipped them out of the mint. The coins first appeared to in numismatic circles in 1920. However, it is interesting to note that the coin collecting community was not even aware of the coins until a dealer named Samual W. Brown place an ad offering to buy any proof examples in the December 1919 issue of the ANA journal “Numismatist”. Then during the ANA convention in 1920 he offered to pay $600 dollars for all examples. Since he actually owned all five specimens, this was just a way to build speculation and establish a market value for the coins. This was enough to create a stir among coin collectors but it took another enterprising coin dealer to make this one of the most famous coins in America. Coin dealer B. Max Mehl begain one million dollar advertising campaign nation wide in 1930 that offered $50 for every 1913 Liberty Nickel sent to him. This created a sensation and people around the country began searching for the elusive nickel. The nation was in the early stages of the Great Depression and fifty dollars was a great deal of money. The real intent of Mehl’s campaign was peddling his “Star Rare Coin Encyclopedia.” Mehl never did purchase a 1913 Nickel but he did manage to produce and sell 30 editions of his encyclopedia and became very rich in the process. Today, two of the coins reside in museums , one in the Smithsonian Institution, and one in the American Numismatic Association’s Money Museum The other three are in private collections. The finest known specimen sold for $1,840,000 in a 1996 auction, and later resold for $4,150,000 in 2005. The “Olsen specimen”, famous for having been featured on an episode of Hawaii Five-O, brought $3,000,000 when it was auctioned in 2003. Type Information The general type coin collector will normally obtain one example of the Liberty Nickel. For the specialized type coin collector two major varieties of the Liberty Nickels were minted, one without the word “cents” one the reverse and the other with cents added. The first variety was minted in 1883 and the with cents coin produced from 1883 until 1913. Collector Points With the exception of 1912, all Liberty Nickels were produced at the Philadelphia mint. The three are low-mintage issues were produced in 1885, 1886 and 1912-S-but there are no great rarities. The 1912-S, at 238,000, is the only coin with a mintage below a million. Proofs were struck every year and at relatively high mintages for the period. Because of a better design, the “V” nickels are well struck. Because of this collectors should avoid weakly stuck coins. There good quantities of well struck coins available. Investor Information The Liberty Nickels are well known among collectors because of the “no cents” version and the highly hyped 1913 edition. However, they are still mostly collected by type collectors. Well preserved examples are readily available and prices don’t increase dramatically until they higher end on the mint state and proof state scales. Finally, although the “no cents” variety was only minted for part of the first year of production it was saved in large quantities by the public. As a result, they are relatively common in the higher grades. This is great for collectors but not so great for investors. Visit www.uscoinfacts.com for a wealth of data about US Coins. Perhaps you should consider buying a car. A car will give you the freedom that you have been wishing for since a very long time. Cars do not come cheap. You will have to spend a hefty sum to buy a car. If you do not have sufficient savings to buy a car, you will have to wait for a number of years and make savings. An easy option is to take out a car loan and drive home your dream car. Car loans are offered by a number of banks, building societies and private lenders. You can take out any amount of car loan depending upon your financial situation and repayment ability. You do not have to repay your loan in a lump sum amount. Loan is repaid in the form of easy monthly installments. Monthly installments comprise the principal as well the interest elements of the loan amount. The rate of interest depends upon many factors such as the type of loan, borrowers credit rating, etc. The rate of interest on secured car loans is lower than the rate on unsecured car loans. If the borrower fails to repay a secured car loan as per the loan terms, the lender may repossess the car and sell it off to recover his money.
