Lipitor Lawyer: Statin Drugs Cause Muscle Damage in 98%

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Anna_Henningsgaard] Anna Henningsgaard Doctors have been encouraged to prescribe the cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins quite liberally. Patients who suffer heart attacks often have elevated levels of cholesterol, so statins like Lipitor are prescribed to lower the cholesterol. There have been no conclusive studies to prove the full effectiveness of these drugs, however, and some doctors worry that reducing cholesterol simply takes away the warning signs of heart disease. The drug companies also claim that statin drugs have a low, nearly nonexistent incidence of side effects. These claims are based on trials of the drug on a carefully screened group of people, hardly a representative selection of the general public. Considering the rigorous selection process for drug trials, it is hardly a surprise that 51% of prescription drugs found to have serious adverse side effects not detected prior to FDA approval. As many as 98% of people using Lipitor or similar statin drugs experience muscle weakness. This is because the statins break down muscle tissue. A similar drug, Baycor, was removed from the market earlier this year after it caused muscle breakdown so severe that patients muscles broke down and flooded their kidneys with toxins. Twenty-six Baycor users died from muscle failure. Though muscle damage, sometimes debilitating muscle pain and disintegration, is the most common side effect, statins have been found to cause many other serious adverse effects. Patients taking Lipitor have had a higher incidence of cancer, neuropathy, heart failure, dizziness, memory failure, and depression. The extent of these problems is far greater than anybody realizes because doctors often diagnose these side effects as problems relating to the original risk of heart disease, not the drug prescribed to treat it. If you are taking Lipitor or another statin and develop muscle weakness or pain, stop taking the drug immediately. If you have strange side effects that doctors cannot seem to diagnose, it could be related to the statins. Above all, if you chose to take these drugs, take Co-Q10 supplements. This is an important liver enzyme whose production is blocked along with cholesterol. If you are suffering adverse effects from these popular drugs, add your voice to the public outcry of statin victims so that doctors, drug companies, and the FDA realize the extent of the problem. If you have been harmed or crippled by these drugs you should contact a lawyer. 3 Questions No Job Seeker Ever Wants To Be Asked?

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Brian Stephenson Employer and interviewers expect you to answer tough question during interviews. Take a few minutes to brainstorm on how you might elaborate on the following answers. The answers you give to these questions that will be asked during your interview will be very important in your career prospects. Suppose you were asked these questions right now. Could you give a good answer? If not, study, study, study. 1. Can you explain why youve been out of work so long? Mothers usually have an easier time with this one than others do because the reason for long unemployment can almost always be related to raising the family. However, if you were just traveling or not looking for work very much, its more difficult. I felt that before I settled into a career job I had better get some personal travel out of the way. So, I traveled all over the country as a sort of self-education. The travel bug is out of my system and Im ready to start on that career. I held many jobs before this long period of having no job. I decided I didnt want to settle for just any job again, so I pretty much stopped looking while I identified what I really wanted to do as a career. I am convinced working for you fits my career plans very well. 2. Do you know anything about our company? Hopefully, you will have done some homework and will know something about the company, but if you dont, you should be prepared to say something other than no, and indicate interest in knowing more. Highlight their services, products and or revenues. Not as much as I would like to. I understand that you are a very large firm, which indicates success and advancement potential. Where are your plants located besides here? Well, you certainly have a reputation for being a leading force in the local economy. 3. Ive interviewed several people with more experience than you. Why should I hire you instead of them? This question can appear in many different forms (as can most of the others). Beware of passing judgment on others because you dont know them and you might be starting an argument, at least in the employers mind. Also, steer clear of answering from a selfish point of view. Instead, refer to the job candidate you do know (you), and give some indication of what the employer stands to gain by hiring you. I cant speak for the others, but I can for myself. I can assure you that I always learn new assignments very rapidly, and I think that may have the advantage of not having to unlearn someone elses way of doing things before learning how to do them your way. Im sure it would be very hard for you to find someone who could beat my eagerness and capacity for work. Tip: Dont concern yourself with trying to memorize each answer to every possible interview question. Each answer you give will be unique to you. Use these questions as a guide for your practice sessions with your team members. Have a family member or close friend sit down with you and grill you with each of these questions. You can not simply read these questions to yourself or study them alone. You must participate in multiple mock interview sessions with someone acting as the interviewer. If possible, have these sessions audio or video taped so that you can hear and/or see answers that you stumble over or questions that you do not clearly respond to. Also, with video, you will notice certain gestures and body language that might be distracting to the interviewer that you might not notice by practicing alone. REMEMBER: The interviewer is not just listening for how you answer the question but also, how you present your case and the image you project. Brian Stephenson is the author of, Job Search Boot Camp, the most hard-hitting, step-by-step job search course that takes each student by the hand and shows them how to beat the odds and have great interviews that lead to job offers. Also, imagine if you could create powerful resumes that get results, stunning cover letters that command interviews, and winning interview thank you letters that get you hired? Consider for a moment what is possible for you if you had access to these forbidden secrets. How To Choose Your Career - A Little Like Choosing Your Life’s Partner

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Robin Henry Introduction - Case Study When my daughter Meredith (in her late twenties) asked me about starting up a boutique recently, the best advice I could give her was to say nothing. I must admit that I didn’t really remember what a boutique was. Sure, I knew it was a shop, but the exact type of shop eluded me. So instead of embarassing myself by letting her know that her infallible, omniscient father really isn’t the fountain of all wisdom as she thinks, I searched the Internet for a suitable source of information. (Ain’t the net grand?) I eventually bought her an ebook titled, “FabJob Guide to Become a Boutique Owner” written by Debbra Mikaelsen, who has, according to the book, “been a fashion industry consultant for the last eight years, and has been working in fashion design and production since 1986.” Her, and a contributing author, Pamela Skillings have much more expertise than I have in the area and have written 226 pages of invaluable information that can be downloaded immediately. I quickly read the ebook to make sure it was as good as I had been led to believe it was and emailed it to my daughter. I asked her to read it and discuss her options and any questions with me. Naturally, my daughter was grateful and my status as father-hero continues …. More importantly, the ebook contained some critically useful information that helped my daughter move her mindset from the supposedly glamorous aspects of owning one’s business, to some of the realities associated with cash flow, fixed costs and the rate of business failures. The ebook contains much too much invaluable information to list here, but to give you a general idea about how thorough it is, here’s a glimpse: 1. The Boutique Environment 2. Planning Your Boutique (Including a section on business planning) 3. Preparing to Open (All about location and inventory acquisition) 4. Running Your Boutique (Merchandising, staff management, sales techniques and more) The title also contains example start-up budgeting information, inventory control documents, staff schedules, advice about customer files and setting up a website for your business. All well written, sensible, useful information for anyone wanting to start up a boutique, or in fact, any retail business. We were both impressed with the FabJob Guide and my daughter is now writing up a plan that will see her open her shop in November 2007. During the lead up, she plans to get some hands-on retail experience and do some statistical research about the demographics etc of the area in which we live. She now has a much better understanding of business ownership. She understands now the reality of boutique shop ownership as opposed to the dreams of huge sales and wealth. We need to take the same effort to choose our careers as we do our life’s partner as either could last 30, 40 or 50 years. My advice is to: do your research; don’t pair up with the first one you find; if possible, try before you commit; when you have decided, commit fully and keep in touch with new developments. Of course, in a career, it’s handy to have skills and knowledge that allow some latitude to move within several similar careers. For most of us, more than one life partner at a time isn’t an option. When you do your career research … and you must do it if you care about your happiness, I highly recommend you include the appropriate FabJob Guide in your research.
